BUAV: Animal testing survey puts Henley candidates under the spotlight

Henley by-election candidates from all five main political parties are considering their views on animal testing after being contacted by the British Union for the Abolition of Vivisection (BUAV).
Candidate's responses will be published on the BUAV web site on Thursday giving Henley voters the chance to elect a cruelty-free MP.
More than 66% of the UK population would like to live in a world where no one wants or believes we need to experiment on animals.
Chief Executive of the BUAV, Michelle Thew says, "Voters concerned about animal protection will be able to see for the first time what the candidates have to say about what they will do to work towards ending animal tests. In this crucial by-election every vote counts and we would urge constituents to support the candidate who has set out the strongest views on how they would make Henley cruelty free."
Many BUAV supporters have already written personally to the candidates to ask them for clear pledges of action.
Last month the BUAV launched a similar campaign during the Crewe and Nantwich by-election and received a strong statement of commitment to reducing animal testing from the winning candidate, Conservative Edward Timpson.
