Your chance to inspire sixth formers
You now have a chance to inspire teenagers directly. Thames Valley Veggies have been invited to talk to 150 sixth formers at Maiden Erlegh School, Reading. They are a great group of responsive intelligent teenagers.
We need 15 of you to volunteer to help us coordinate group discussion sessions. No experience or special skill is required, just your standard veggie/vegan knowledge. Just for one hour, on a Monday morning in February.
The sixth formers of today are the peer group of the highest percentage of people going veggie. We can inspire them to understand and support their veggie and vegan friends. They may even choose to eat more healthily to the benefit of the planet and animals themselves.
If you're interested in being there, I'd love to hear from you. All you need is a positive attitude, and calm consideration when people don't understand and question you. During the group sessions, you'll be handing out pens and question sheets, and encouraging the students to talk about their responses to the questions. One student from each group will summarise to all at the end. We'll also hand out some tasty vegan food.
The class is part of sixth form General Studies. They have guest speakers from all walks of life each week.
Please contact us if you are interested in helping out, or are a teacher or parent who would like to put us in touch with teachers at your school, such as for Food Technology, General Studies or Citizenship.
