"I've been here twice, and only upon my second visit did I realize what was peculiar about this restaurant. First, the music is super low. Second, the lights are too bright. And, third, the staff seems tense, or at least like they do not like working there. I got the sense that the servers understand veganism, but they were all over the place, so you end up getting served by several different people during your meal. As such, you really have to keep mentioning that you are a vegan, because it doesn't seem like there is much communication going on in the kitchen or among the waiting staff... The second time I was there, the famous "owner" was in, and she cast even more tension on the space, as it wasn't very busy, and maybe she was bothered by that. In fact, I'd say that the place is a little "charmless". Still, the food is very good, and I would go again, but not on a weekday, as it feels a little too rigid when there's not much going on. Portions are not huge, and there are not tons of vegan options, but it's food you won't get elsewhere. "

"I find the Spice Route quite an elegant restaurant with a large vegetarian selection. I think about 50% of the menu is vegatarian! The choices are wonderful and not like your usual greesy Indian restaurants. I really like this one. "
