The Bird In Hand is a 14th Century Country Inn with up to date accommodation and good quality meals 7 days a week. The restaurant menu has plenty of vegetarian dishes, and some vegan, with more choice is available if you call in advance.
The venue is also available for weddings, celebrations and corporate events. Bedrooms are available for overnight stays and weekends away, although we have yet to hear if they can do a vegan breakfast.
The Restaurant
Caroline, the proprietor tells us: 'Since all our dishes are homemade we can cater for all requests but at the moment do not have a separate Vegan section on our menu. So, for example, on the main menu the Mezze and Spicy Chick pea curry are suitable for vegans. The other 2 vegetarian dishes would have to be slightly changed to be suitable. Anyone can request changes to a dish although if there is a group it is easier to know in advance. There are also at least 2 vegetarian dishes on the Specials Board which are often suitable, such as various risottos, pastas etc.'
'We don't currently use vegetarian cheese although the chef is ordering some in as a result of the query. We only use free range eggs.
'As far as children are concerned we do have a garden and have baby changing facilities.' The garden looks large and lovely, and there is a terrace for eating out on in Summer.
