Sheeplands is an excellent food shop, stocking some really unusual and tasty items that you cannot find anywhere else in the area. It's an omni place, so you have to gloss over the meaty stuff, and search for the great veggie and vegan offerings. It is worth an occasional special trip, or simply pop in if you are going east from Reading along the A4. It's cycling distance from Reading too.
Our favourite items include frozen savoury dishes from Clements Vegetarian Catering and Frozen Foods, such as the lovely nut roasts and lentil & spinach lattice pie. Also highly recommended are the Black Cherry and Amaretto puddings made by Cottage Delight that they sell for Christmas, which have completely plant-based ingredients and are rich and alcoholic. The also have Clives Pies, lots of dairy-free and vegan staples and masses of fruit and veg.
Open 7 days a week from 9 am to 5 pm and only closed on 3 days of the year: Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Years Day.
