Description
Chennai Dosa has moved to the centre of town - to Kings Road near the Central Library. This is the one from the authentic Chennai Dosa chain, whereas the old one in Whitley Street has broken off and is now Cafe Madras (formerly Chenna Dosa, 73 Whitley Street, Reading Cafe Madras .
Here the service is much friendlier, the food of even better quality. The level of spiciness in any dish is rather variable, but nearly all are far too spicy for most kids or your more tender friends. An exception is the vegetable rice. They serves beer here.
Chennai Dosa are famed for their South Indian and Sri Lankan cuisine with dosas being their forte. We recommend the Special Masala Dosa (vegan and only

"Hands down the best curries in Reading. I visited Chennai Dosa last night for a great meal with a couple of old friends. Amazing atmosphere and quick service although there was a good 15 minute wait for a table due to all the rush. Even though the place was packed the friendly manager had time to have a quick chat with us and recommend us a few things on the menu. The starters were soo great that we let him order the rest of the meal for us! Will definitely be back here next week!"

"Being a south Indian food addict, i have recently adopted the new Chennai Dosa as my second home. Whilst only working up the road, one can more often than not find me here during my lunch hour. With a great selection of pure vegetarian dishes, i find myself spoilt for choice on starters as well as main courses. After a rocky start the service has seriously improved as i now find myself returning back to work comfortably within my lunch break!"

"Visited for the first time tonight so didn;t know what to expect or what to order from the menu. Waiter was excellent and tried to explain what things were but saw we were struggling so said he would order for us. He made excellent choice for me (vegetarian) and my husband (non-veg) and now we know we can order ourselves next time! Lovely Gobi manchurian starter and then special masala dosa for main for me, we really didn't need the extra curry dish we thought we should order! food lovely and service was good, very quick, we had finished within and hour of being there!"

"In terms of presenting its self to the world this new centre town branch of this north London chain has made massive improvements over its now rebel restaurant back on Whitley Street. It feels more like a city eatery than the cafe style it had in its previous incarnation. But even with its great increase in seating you can still expect to wait for a seat during lunch hours - but not long. The menu appears to be exactly the same including a lunch time buffet at £4.99 for the veg version. I've eaten there about 5 times over the last 2 weeks and one waiter already predicts my order - which is nice. For quick, cheap hot food in central Reading, I'm not sure anything can touch it."
