The largest supplier of oriental foods in the Reading area. It stocks some interesting bits & pieces for vegans such as a wide variety of tofu, fake meat products, vegan dumplings, spring rolls, exotic fruit & veg plus a huge variety of noodles and sauces. The china and cooking implement sections are also worth a peek.

The freezer packs of large numbers of mini spring rolls, samosas, etc are handy and good value for a party.

Photo: SophieWatch out for things labeled vegetarian that are not, because of ingredients like oyster sauce. We recommend you read all the ingredients on everything as lard, fish and dairy derivatives sometimes creep into unexpected foods.

The good news is that a common tofu ingredient that sounds dairy-derived isn't: Glucono-delta-lactone, or simply lactone. Glucono-delta-lactone (GDL) is a food starch derived from corn sugar. GDL is used in the manufacturing process of soft or silken tofu. When mixed with calcium salts like gypsum or nigari, GDL creates a silky, smooth tofu.
