Questions
Events
Can you keep me posted about events?
Simply register yourself on this site and you'll automatically be on our mailing list. You can remove yourself at any time. We try to keep group mailing down to a minimum. You get few emails a month from us, normally about the next event. We do not share your details with any other organisations, and your registered email address is hidden from even us. Only the system can use it.
Do I need to be veggie to come to your events?
No. All friendly people are welcome.
Is the alcohol at the events always veggie?
Wine and beer are much more difficult to pin down in veggie terms, and more difficult for the venue to do anything about (because it is supplied "as is" from their supplier - they don't make it themselves). Also, it is hard to keep up to date with changes made to ingredients and processing by the makers of drinks. For these reasons, we make no pledges about the alcohol available. We also do not police what people drink - although we might say a few words if you took a bit out of one of the other guest's neck.
If you want to know which drinks available are veggie or vegan it's is likely that other people attending will have an idea, and probably more of a clue than the restaurant or bar.
If it's a bring your own drink event do try to make sure what you bring is veggie and ideally vegan so all can share.
Is the food at your events always veggie?
The food is always at least veggie. Normally, it is all vegan because most times we organise a special menu (at a special price) and we don't want guests worrying about if they can eat everything. Our special menus are one of the many reasons to come along to a Thames Valley Veggies event.

Helping
Can I help Thames Valley Veggies in any way?
Oh yes! Here are a few ways, in no particular order:
- Tell us about any good local veggie places we've missed.
- Put a review on the web site against the veggie places you eat at (scroll to the bottom of a location for this option).
- Organise an event. There is a guide to this.
- Write an article for the site.
- Help with the logistics of the larger events - such as the Green Fairs and stalls. These types of events need many hands - just volunteer. We need all types of things. From manning stalls, writing and printing leaflets, sweet talking people of influence, moving things around to baking cakes and more.
- When you go somewhere new that is in our places to eat list, tell them you found them through Thames Valley Veggies. That way, they will pay more attention to us when we encourage them to improve their menu for veggies.
- Always ensure you complement recommended places on their veggie/vegan offerings and then suggest to them how it could be even better.
- If you are restaurant manager why not contact us to organise a meal.
- Come to the events - the large numbers encourage the restaurants to improve their menus.
- Tell someone else about Thames Valley Veggies.
- Post about the group on other web sites, Facebook and Twitter (use the "share" icons).
- Persuade someone to link to this web site.
- Go Vegetarian.
- Go Vegan.
- Become a local contact for the Vegetarian Society
- Become a local campaigner for the Animal Aid or Viva!
- Proof read the web site. The reporting of typos is highly regarded.
