Description

We're repeating last year's event to celebrate the festive season, due to huge demand.

  • meet at a great venue
  • bring and share lovely food
  • talk to new and favourite local veggies
  • play music, and even games
  • have fun, and even dance
  • auction with great prizes
  • plus a licenced bar

We've booked the whole of the Global Cafe for our exclusive use (it will be closed to the public). We'll have a licenced bar and bring our own dishes for an amazing feast. Lovely location for a great party atmosphere, with music and whatever you like. Suggest party content ideas on the forum.

To cover the venue booking and extras, the cost will be £4 per person. Everyone will bring a dish to share.

Contact Us right away if you are interested in being there.

auction

We hope to be donated such fabulous prizes that we'll have another very popular auction again. All proceeds to good causes. Things up for auction likely to include: meals at local restaurants, pampering materials, and wines. Thanks so much from our lovely donors last year: the Spice Oven, Kathmandu Kitchen, Cafe Iguana, Garland's Organic Shop, and Kate Corder.

Games

The games we played last year were a riot, and included everyone, so it's likely we'll repeat variations of some of them due to popular demand. Please tell us if you 'd like to suggest any more.

what food should I bring?

All food will be vegan so all can share. Bring more than enough, so that even by itself it would be more than you could possibly eat. If there are leftovers, we can all share taking them home.

Real food please, not crisps etc. Home cooking is both interesting and popular and gives great variety.

If you are stuck for ideas or are not a confident cook, we are happy to help with recipe ideas, suggested ready-made things you could buy, or even someone you can buy the ingredients for that they'll prepare. You are welcome to club together to make a super large quantity of something.

Confident at veggie cooking but not sure about vegan? Try using some handy ingredient replacement tables to help you alter your usual recipes. You might also like to get an idea of hearty vegan dishes.

There will be a small kitchen available for us to use upstairs, with an oven, microwave and 4 hobs. Bring whatever you need to cook with (eg pans and implements), though make your dish as ready-to-go as possible at home, so you don't have to miss too much of the party while getting it ready! Tell us if you want to be in the kitchen between 6 and 7pm (or later for puds) to heat your dish and what facilities you'll be using.

Tell us well beforehand the kind of dish you plan bringing along, and do err on the side of making something savoury. Help us ballance out mains and desserts.

It'll be scrummy and varied and like no other event could be!
