Welcome to the Vegan and Vegetarian Guide to the Thames Valley - the most comprehensive and up-to-date on the web.

Starter 1 Thames Valley Vegans and Vegetarians are a social and active vegetarian group based around Reading. We love food and socialising and are one of the largest and most popular vegetarian groups in the UK. So join in just by booking to come along to one of our events.

We also promote vegetarianism through encouraging local businesses, communicating with local press, school talks, raising funds for the various vegetarian organisations and spreading the word.

RDA Organic Smoothies donate prize to local vegan family

The growing smoothie firm, RDA Organics, donated a prize to Sophie and her family. Sophie was entered into a prize draw after sponsoring the Vegan Coast to Coast Walk, and was delighted to be offered free smoothies for her 2 kids and their class mates for 3 days - that's 60 smoothies a day! The kids at school have been buzzing about them ever since.

You now have a chance to inspire teenagers directly. Thames Valley Veggies have been invited to talk to 150 sixth formers at Maiden Erlegh School, Reading. They are a great group of responsive intelligent teenagers.

We need 15 of you to volunteer to help us coordinate group discussion sessions. No experience or special skill is required, just your standard veggie/vegan knowledge. Just for one hour, on a Monday morning in February.

Compassion In World Farming is very sensibly having a stall at the Association for Science Education Conference in Reading this January. They could really do with more volunteers to help man the stalls to tell teachers of Food Technology and other sciences about their programme of school speakers and the literature and research they produce. CIWF have excellent materials on the effect of livestock on global warming for instance.
